Case Study
Droitwich Spa Town Council
Droitwich Spa Town Council is at the first tier of local government providing services for the people of Droitwich. It provides financial support for various organisations and festivals in Droitwich as well as other projects.
The Council is made up of 18 elected councillors representing the seven wards of Central, Chawson, Copcut, East, Tagwell, West & Witton and a small team of officers led by the Town Clerk. The Town Mayor, a position that has existed in the town since it was awarded its Charter in 1604, chairs council meetings. Council and committee meetings are held at the Council Chamber at St Richard’s House and are open to the public to attend.

Project
Redesign
Having worked with and supported Droitwich Spa Council with their website since 2015, I was pleased that the suggestions to upgrade and re-build their website at the same time as making some additional amends was taken onboard. This was a more cost effective solution and allowed us to improve and redesign the website in one go.
Objectives
Accessibility
To improve the security of the website, streamline the process for admins to upload agendas and minutes for council meetings that need to made public and at the same time making the front-end more user friendly. As with the previous version of the website, making the website accessible was of importance.
Outcome
Community Information
A simple uncluttered re-design using contrasting colours for accessibility. Built with the new Neighbourhood Development Plan in mind, the site will accommodate the increasing amount of information that will be collated from the community.
